What do you care what other lawyers do?

The pattern. . .

/
If you're seeing a pattern in your law firm of prospective clients who don't hire you even though where they are now is bad, even though they have no way to make things better on their own and even though they acknowledge that things are likely to get worse not better without your help...

Are you a Hunter or a Farmer?

/
Today the owner of that restaurant let a $10,000 customer walk out the door because of the ego of his or her manager. And what's worse there's no way for that owner to even know where all his or her profits are going? He or she is probably busy blaming "the economy"!

The so-called "competition"

/
You've seen it over & over & over again... A "new" lawyer comes onto the scene and just kicks-butt... And all the more "experienced" lawyers, arguably even "better" lawyers are standing-around scratching their heads wondering How This Is Possible?

Simple Strategic Planning

Simple but devastatingly-effective strategic planning for solo & small law firms. If you take your success at all seriously, you really owe it to yourself to watch these four videos in one sitting so you "get it". Otherwise you'll very likely watch the first one but forget to come back to see the rest. Note: I shot these videos back in 2009. I have since learned alot and I have made some important refinements to this process but the basic approach has not changed.

Fear

Fear It's what screws things up for most lawyers who aren't as happy with their law firms or their lives as they could be. And fear has an ugly way of growing into frustration, resentment, defensiveness, anger and worst-of-all the twin-devils: Justification & Compromise.

Be sure you take the right lesson

Take your example from happy lawyers who have successful law firms, stay-away from tigers...

Thoughts on Staffing a Successful Law Firm

/
There are several different business models for building a successful law firm. Most of them require some level of legal staff be hired, trained, managed motivated and measured for productivity & profitability. To say "well I just won't have staff" is like saying you're going to lock yourself in a jail cell and then throw the key through the bars to where you cannot reach it. Even if you change your mind. Having great staff can be a blessing. Having less-than-great staff can be a torture.

Over-paying for information

I don't like paying for information.  Information isn't…
